The very fest mention of the castle Il Palagio dates back to 1252, though it is thought to be much older. Events of different nature have distinguished the story of this important building, whose proportions and impregnability have enabled it to hold out against the several raids during the centuries. Castello Il Palagio has been producing wines for over 200 years. We have about 100 hectares of land, 25 of which are vineyards. We produce fifteen different wines and 90% of our production is Chianti Classico. Our vineyards are on hills, mainly with an exposition towards southwest on a calcareous land rich in albarese and marl, 300 meters above see level. We use traditional methods of cultivation, paying attention to the new enological techniques.
